36th MEMC Week Celebrated in Nagpur

Nagpur, January 4, 2026: The 36th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (MEMC) Week was celebrated at Hotel Regenta, Nagpur, bringing together stakeholders from across the Indian mining industry to showcase initiatives and best practices in environmental protection, sustainable mining, and mineral conservation. The annual event is organized under the aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM). At the prestigious event, Lloyds Metals & Energy Limited’s (LMEL) Surjagarh Iron Ore Mines secured the joint second prize in the Fully-mechanized Open Cast Mines category, sharing the honour with UltraTech Cement’s Naokari Limestone Mine. The award was received on behalf of the company by the women team of LMEL, marking a significant moment of recognition for inclusive participation in the mining sector. Dignitaries from Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited, along with officials from the Indian Bureau of Mines and various mining organizations, were present on the occasion. Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited participated prominently in the event, showcasing a range of initiatives reflecting its commitment to sustainable and responsible mining. These included green mining practices, beneficiation of Banded Hematite Quartzite (BHQ), slurry pipeline projects, pellet plant operations, and various corporate social responsibility initiatives. A key highlight of LMEL’s participation was the confident interaction of its women workforce with senior dignitaries. The women team shared insights into their work and professional experiences, earning appreciation from officials for their contribution toward promoting inclusivity and diversity in the mining industry.
